Gate City Chapter
Throughout the past 55 years, the organization has consistently taken the lead in assuring that training and education opportunities are available to minority personnel. The Association has also worked toward eliminating racial discrimination and to secure merited recognition of minorities in the profession.
Banks-Marable Golf Tournament
Paul T. Banks, deceased Greensboro Police Internal Affairs detective, and John D. Marable, deceased Guilford County Sheriff’s deputy and NC A&T Police Officer, were among the pioneering fathers of the North State Law Enforcement Officers Association. They were both members of the Gate City Chapter and the tournament is named so to honor them. Proceeds from the tournament go towards the Paul Banks/John Marable NSLEOA Educational Scholarship awarded annually to a local student who is interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree in criminal justice or related field of study. Many of today’s officers are reaping the benefit of Mr. Bank’s and Mr. Marable’s efforts and their tenacity in the early years opened doors for minorities interested in the law enforcement profession.
